Strasburg, VA is having a festival in honor of  May. Mayfest is now celebrating 30 years of a family-fun festival. Enjoy live music, a carnival, classic car show, pony rides, and magicians. Parade through town is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. Event is May 18-May 20, 2012. Visit the official Mayfest website for a complete schedule of events.

Battle of New Market Reenactment will be Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20, 2012.  This annual reenactment at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War/ New Market Battlefield State Historical Park, is the oldest annual battle reenactment in the nation.  Living history at the Bushong Farm; "history in a box" presentation by the National Park Service, and much more. Barrels, Barbeque, and Bands, a fundraiser for the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival, will be Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Cave Ridge Vineyard.  The event features a delicious barbeque, a glass of wine, and a band competition.
